Placenta Encapsulation

What is Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta encapsulation is the process of dehydrating the placenta at a very low temperature as to conserve all of the vitamins, minerals, iron and proteins. Once it has been dehydrated it is put into pills along with fennel (optional) to aid in milk production. The people of the west have started realizing the benefits of this process, which is something that those in the east have been practicing for thousands of years.

Why encapsulate

Although there are not many studies done of the benefits of placenta encapsulating, there are many mother who notice a great difference when they encapsulate their placentas vs when they did not. The benefits that mothers have spoken of are as follows:

  • decrease postpartum depression/blues

  • decrease insomnia

  • increase iron levels

  • increase energy levels

  • boost breastmilk production

  • increase post birth healing

Look down at your navel. There is undoubtedly a small depression or scar left by the detachment of your umbilical cord, right at the center of your body. This is a permanent mark, a souvenir reminder of your placenta, which was crucial to your development as an embryo and fetus.”
